Azucar

Simona da Pozzo lives and works in Milano and Paris. Her art-making tool is action. She works on the role played by affectivity in the relation between body and territory. She is working on identity questions and social links, attempting at deviating social codes and postures through the use of tiny recreational protocols, for a better perception of others. In a multidisciplinary arena, she looks for paths between investigations and questions around which she shapes shifting answers, a path hopefully allowing for the sharing of fragilities and solidities.

Ile 2 is a work that explores the “body shape” through the movement and its connection with the space. Two men in a rectangular space move in a simple way: the point of view amplifies the little differences between them. The spectator can’t get involved in their regard so He can only imagine the correspondence between the directions of the bodies and the sounds.

In Azucar we see a turquoise field where two suspended bodies float by alternating their spatial positions. At night, water is the only light: the faces remain in the shadows, resembling those of anonymous beasts. The slow, passive movement maintains the gaze, while leaving it indifferent. The bodies resist, breathing through the skin, exploring the aquarium until it's full. Azucar is the second chapter of the trilogy on the body-space relationship conceived in 2002.
