Tutte le anomalie...

Riccardo Arena (Milan, 1979) lives and works between Milan and Buenos Aires and graduated in a Fine Art from Brera Accademy of Arts.

“Over the years, my work has grown and developed within different creative environments, so that I had the opportunity to take several roles and to collaborate and create working teams with musicians, writers, artists and filmmakers. All these experiences as a whole gave me the chance to take care of various aspects of my work, leading me to a reflection upon different expression codes and languages. Installation art, ceramics, video art, photography and performing arts are linked by a common research path, which is based on the elaboration of an open working method. Open in the sense that my main interest is on the process of searching, cataloging and filing heterogeneous visual and narrative elements that are then meticulously assembled through grammatical codes inspired by these same elements. Topics related to science, tradition, astronomy, landscape architecture, religions, metaphysics, warranted and unwarranted theory, and to catastrophe, as a creative act of reorganization, often recur through my work. In my projects, they re-shape themselves into a visionary, evocative and poetic dimension. Finally, all my work, both in its content and form, focuses on the impossibility to reach explanations or opinions on Reality, as they systematically turn out to be deranged. Reality is substantially an unattainable goal.” --Riccardo Arena

25.765 (2008) is a depiction of the Huang Pu River in Shanghai, a video animation crated in China using a working methodology based upon the research, categorization and archiving of visual and narrative elements which are assembled to create a work reflecting the suggested course of the accumulated materials combined. MUSIC Matteo Mariano

Tutte le anomalie del tempo verrano regolate (2007) is a video created during a workshop in Irpinia (Italy). It reflects the sacred spaces and "eternal returns" within the traditions of the oldest Italian carnival. SOUNDTRACK Mercoledì Trio & Marco Messina PRODUCED by Mediaterrae.
