Michael Woods (M. Woods) (NYC, 1988) is a New York City-based artist mainly working in experimental film and video art. Woods graduated from NYU with a degree in Film Production, and has since worked as a freelance videographer/editor and teacher.

The purpose of his work is to manipulate cinematic reality so as to expose its imposing presence and adverse effect on persona, consciousness, and the collective unconscious. His work violently elucidates the disfigurement of the contrived, mediated soul forged from complacent spectatorship, and forms an attack at the proponents of mass mediated nihilism, pop-culture stupor, and regurgitated escapism. Woods, who employs guerilla and ultra-low budget filmmaking tactics, works primarily in Super 8 and 16mm, as well as a myriad of different video formats.

He co-founded the Disassociative Collective with fellow artists Lauren Paige, Simon Liu, Harry Eskin, and Blake Blasingame. The Collective's work has been shown at more than 50 film festivals, galleries, and independent screenings.
